Whether a fisherman, designer, jam-maker or ventriloquist Schroders Bright Ideas is the competition for you. It is all about the idea!
All islanders with a small business or a business idea are invited to compete in this most unique contest - the 2009 Schroders Bright Ideas is open to all between the age of 18 and 118.
Schroders Bright Ideas comes to life with help of the team of successful business people who will both mentor and judge the finalists. Healthspan's Derek Coates, Tom Scott of ComProp and Julian Winser of Schroders Private Bank are joined this year by Gina Le Prevost of AP Group, our Chief Minister Lyndon Trott and Stuart Falla of the Garenne Group. They have all committed their own time to push Guernsey’s budding entrepreneurs forward.
On 30th July a Schroders Ideas Surgery will be held to help those who need guidance and reassurance that their idea is great. Places are limited so book here
You have until 10th September to send in your entry form. Then the judges, assisted by the Guernsey Young Business Group and the Chamber of Commerce, will choose six finalists to go to the final at St James on 3rd November.
Throughout October the six finalists will be able to utilise the experience of the mentors. That's not all however - they will also have access to the Schroders Bright Ideas Workshops which will cover different aspects of business life. From marketing to employment law, protecting intellectual property rights, IT to accountancy and public speaking; the finalists will get experience that money can't buy. The £5,000 prize-money is the icing on the cake. Most importantly their business will gain exposure to a large Guernsey audience through this public competition
